In this simple form the pattern occurs as a pair of wooden ceilings in the middle of the east and west galleries of the Patio de los Leones, behind the east and west pavilions, respectively. A single square of this pattern, with 12-stars at the corners and centre, forms the underlying basis of the large mosaic panels in the central alcove of the north wall of the Salon de Comares. Each rectangular is basically 9 x 5 such squares.
